Apple Cider Pork Chops

Serving:4

Approximately 30-35 minutes for cooking

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork chops
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

How to make that TastyBurp

  1. Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper.

  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set them aside.

  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and garlic. Sauté for a few minutes until they become translucent and fragrant.

  4. Pour in the apple cider, chicken broth, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and dried thyme. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.

  5. Return the seared pork chops to the skillet and spoon some of the sauce over them. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and let the pork chops simmer in the sauce for about 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and have reached an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

  6. While the pork chops are simmering, add the apple chunks to the skillet. Cook them for 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender and have absorbed some of the sauce's flavors.

  7. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed with more salt, pepper, or brown sugar.

  8. Once the pork chops are cooked, and the apples are tender, serve them hot, drizzled with the apple cider sauce and garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or a side of steamed vegetables. Enjoy your apple cider pork chops with apple chunks!
