How to get that TastyBurp

1. Marinate the Chicken:

  • In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the chicken in the buttermilk mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.

2. Make the Waffle Batter:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  • Preheat your waffle iron according to its instructions.

3. Fry the Chicken:

  • In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  • In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing any excess to drip off.
  • Dredge the chicken in the seasoned flour, pressing the flour mixture onto the chicken to adhere well.
  • Carefully place the chicken into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes for tenders or 10-12 minutes for breasts.
  • Remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

4. Cook the Waffles:

  • Pour the waffle batter onto the preheated waffle iron (use the recommended amount for your specific waffle iron) and cook until golden and crispy.
  • Keep the cooked waffles warm in a low oven while you finish cooking the remaining batter.

5. Serve:

  • Place a waffle on a plate, top with fried chicken, and drizzle with maple syrup.
  • Enjoy that TastyBurp.

Enjoy your homemade chicken and waffles! This dish is a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors that's perfect for brunch or any time you're in the mood for a hearty meal.
